Keynote Address
Andrea Efthymiou

Informed by her work in higher education and writing centers, Andrea Efthymiou’s research explores writing tutor labor and staff education, as well as best practices for supporting undergraduate research. Andrea’s scholarship has appeared in College English, Praxis, Writing Center Journal, WLN—where she currently serves as co-editor—and various edited collections. Her current project is a collaboratively edited book on interfaith dialogue in writing centers and writing programs. Andrea is also at work on a rhetorical study of adoption in the US and abroad.
Andrea is the 2022 recipient of the Ron Maxwell Award for Distinguished Leadership in Promoting the Collaborative Learning Practices of Peer Tutors in Writing. While working at Hofstra University, she was named the 2022 Mentor of the Year and the 2021 Distinguished Teacher of the Year for the School of Humanities, Fine and Performing Arts. Andrea chaired the 2017 National Conference on Peer Tutoring in Writing (NCPTW) and currently serves as NCPTW Treasurer. She joined Queens College as a faculty member and Writing Center Director in 2023 and is proud to devote the rest of her career to serving CUNY students.
